The Handspike
Manifesto
Three wrong answers.
The work demands more every year. More channels, more content, more tests, more proof. But the day still has the same number of hours.
First the answer was to work harder. It gave us longer days and thinner work.
Then it was to buy another tool. It gave us more dashboards and the same number of hours.
Now it's to let AI do it all. It gives us more content than ever, and less worth reading.
We believe in multiplication.
It did none of the work. It multiplied the people.
A handspike is a powerful lever. For centuries, people have used it to move what they could never lift: anchors, timber, stone.
Archimedes said: give me a place to stand, and with a lever I will move the world. He did not say the lever would move it. He said “I will.”
Add AI to a person and you get a faster person. Multiply a person by AI and you get a team. The question stops being “what do I have time for?” and becomes “what is worth doing?”
Anything times zero is zero.
A lever with no hand on it moves nothing. Take the human out and there is nothing left to multiply. No taste. No judgment. No one who knows the customer. No one who cares whether the work is any good.
Humans lead. Always.
- Judgment cannot be handed off. It can only be extended.
- When anyone can produce anything, what you choose to make matters most.
- Speed without direction is noise.
- The size of your team should not set the size of your ambition.
- Good work is made together, not handed over.
Four promises.
- We will not replace your judgment with ours.
- We will not hide how the work was made.
- We will not flood the world with work no one stands behind.
- We will not call it done until you would put your name on it.
The future of work isn't human or AI. It's Human × AI.
You choose what to move. We help you move it.
